Sandbox Interactive announced that the Abyssal Depths update is releasing in Albion Online on June 30. The upcoming update features a major overhaul of the new player experience and makes the game even more accessible. It also introduces a new PvP feature.
New Player Experience
One of the highlights of the update is how Albion Online is being introduced to new players. For example, the post-tutorial experience is going to be integrated into the existing Albion Journal. This should allow for a much clearer and more structured guide especially during the early stages of the game. The Tasks meanwhile start with simple objectives which then expand to broader goals.
New Dungeon
Another highlight is the new PvP feature which comes in the form of a brand-new type of dungeon. It's located under Caerleon and can be accessed through Antiquarian’s Dens, which is a new staging area.
This dungeon is designed for 2-3 player groups and features a collapsing dungeon format with:
- Monsters and opposing player groups.
- Tactical objectives and spirits to collect.
- Fast-paced encounters and strategic decision-making.
- Each run in this dungeon emphasizes risk vs. reward while also offering unique new rewards.
Other Changes
The update also introduces these new features and improvements:
- A new batch of Crystal Weapons.
- A complete rework of the Learning Points system.
- A streamlined Combined HUD Tracker.
- A revamped Marketplace categorization system.
- Various other improvements and quality-of-life changes.
Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG that's set in the medieval fantasy world of Albion. It started as an independently developed and old-school MMO and has since then risen to be one of the world's leading sandbox MMORPGs. Whether you’re a fighter, farmer, trader or master craftsman, all styles have a place in the player-driven world of Albion.
What makes Albion Online rather unique is that rather than a pre-built and linear path full of game-provided quests, the game gives players the chance to write their own story and thus play it in countless different ways. The game’s sprawling world has five biomes that’s spread across two massive continents. In addition to near-endless opportunities for exploration and discovery, there’s also a wide range of PvE and PvP options for solo and group players.
Albion Online is available for PC via Steam.
